The Federal Government’s Anchor Borrowers Programme (ABP) plans to give loans to over 5,654 rice farmers in Daura and Sandamu Local Government Areas of Katsina State this wet planting season.
This was disclosed by the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) Chairman, Daura Local Government, Alhaji Nura Baure, during the official launch of the programme in the local government.
Baure, who said about 2,961 farmers had registered from his district, vowed they would ensure that they reach the set target.

He added that about 900 women were among those whose data had been captured and had been issued with forms to complete the remaining processes.
“I am encouraged at the turnout of women farmers for the scheme,’’ he added.

Speaking also, Chairman, Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria, (RIFAN), Sandamu Local Government, Alhaji Usman Nalado, stated that a total of 2,693 farmers had registered from his LGA.
“We would not relent in encouraging our mothers to key into such lofty scheme,” Nalado said.
