Africa Fashion Week London moves to Black History Month
As we recover from Covid-19 and wait for our restrictions to lift, we’ve been considering the confidence and safety of our valued designers, exhibitors and visitors to our event and have decided, in part, to move from August 13-14 to a date to be determined in October in celebration of Black History Month. In 2020, we really focussed on our need to help designers be sustainable, both in their ethical practices and financial models.
In 2021 we emphasise the need to advocate for greater ethics in the fashion and design industry; mobilise universal consciousness and action for inclusivity and equity for creatives and reinforce the commitment to the preservation of our richly diverse heritage, art and narratives.
This hybrid event will include both in-person showcase and live streaming, digital activations around the venue – featuring designers films, brand advertising and special messages of support. Our exhibition marketplace will be more vibrant than ever with vendors appealing to lovers of fashion, accessories, footwear, hair and beauty, and holistic therapies. Our Creative Resilience Forum, aka Business Forum, will bring together some of the leading players and voices in the UK on topics including fashion, design, culture technology, commerce, funding and ethics.
You don’t want to miss the brilliant hair exhibitions and demonstrations and workshops on African textile techniques. And there is no celebration without food, drinks and music!
This mix of exclusive multimedia content from our non-travelling designers and brand partners and live talks and demonstrations, we hope will support our global roster of African designers – particularly those hard hit by Covid-19 – and bring together fashion and technology, sustainability and heritage. Africa Fashion Week London is one of the major global showcases of African fashion and design striving to support our African -inspired emerging designers and continue our ethos for the next generation. We look forward to seeing you in October.
Current day ticket holders will be updated to all event entry tickets for both days and complimentary entry to 3rd party events scheduled for the rest of the year.
They will also receive a special adire goodie bag.
