Germany and Belgium sent packing from the 2022 World Cup as Japan tops group E

When Group E’s chaotic final two games were played on Thursday, the four-time World Cup champion Germany was eliminated. Germany defeated Costa Rica 4-2, but as a result of Japan’s 2-1 victory over Spain, Japan and Spain advanced to the next round of the World Cup, but Germany was eliminated for the second time in a row.

Early results from Group F revealed a surprising group winner in Morocco, who defeated Canada 2-1. As a result of their goalless tie, Croatia and Morocco advance while Belgium was sent packing.

Germany’s failure to advance in the World Cup for the second time in a row is an astonishing decline for a national team that has won the competition four times.

The early elimination of Belgium, which is now rated No. 2 in the world and took third place in 2018, is extremely sad. This makes Group E and Group F to have unexpected group champions. On Monday, Japan, the winner of Group E, will play Croatia in the round of 16. Morocco will play Spain on Tuesday as the winner of Group F.
