International Day of Education 2023: To invest in people, prioritize education

Today the World celebrates the International Day of Education. Every year on January 24, there is a celebration of International Day of Education. It takes a more comprehensive approach to studying education. Around the world, children’s access to high-quality education varies, and millions of them continue to be denied this fundamental human right. The purpose of the day is to advocate for improved educational reforms and expanded educational opportunities for everybody. It’s a day to rejoice and promote educational access.

“To invest in people, emphasize education” will be the topic of the fifth International Day of Education, which will be observed on January 24, 2023. The UN Transforming Education Summit in September 2022 gave rise to a worldwide movement, and this year’s Day will advocate for preserving that momentum while outlining how to put commitments and international initiatives into practice. In light of the current global recession, widening inequality, and the climate crisis, it is imperative to emphasize education in order to advance toward all of the Sustainable Development Goals.

This year’s International Day has been set aside by UNESCO to honor Afghan women and girls who have been denied the opportunity to receive an education. It demands that the ban limiting them access to school be immediately lifted.

To invest in people, prioritize education

The UN’s 2030 Agenda for people, planet, and prosperity, which consists of 17 interconnected goals, will be reviewed at the SDG Summit in September on the topic of investing in people at the halfway point in the year 2023.

This year’s Day calls for sustaining strong political mobilization around education and figuring out how to turn commitments and global efforts into reality, building on the global momentum created by the UN Transforming Education Summit in September 2022. In light of the current global recession, widening inequality, and the climate crisis, it is imperative to emphasize education in order to advance toward all of the Sustainable Development Goals.

International Day of Education in Nigeria

The 2023 International day of Education is equally marked in Nigeria by Governments and organizations. In Taraba state, to raise the caliber of education in Taraba, the Maigida Center for Youth Development (MCYD), a non-governmental organization, donated books worth millions of Naira to Sabon Gari Primary School in Jalingo on Tuesday.

The goal, according to Mr. Amino Usman, the program manager, was to raise Taraba’s educational standards while also commemorating the International Day of Education. Usman stated that Maigida Center for Youth Development was dedicated to providing social services in the areas of health and education and that it was currently doing health programs across various states in Nigeria.

As part of our social services to education, we provide books, particularly teachers’ manuals, to raise the educational bar in Taraba state. This has become vital in order to fulfill our societal obligations and to recognize the International Day of Education. “We have been offering these kinds of programs to schools in Taraba and other Nigerian states. Our goals are to promote the health of the populace and the performance of young Nigerians. Program manager gave an explanation.
In response, Maigida received praise from Mr. Isa Amed, the school’s principal, who was represented by Mrs. Comfort Yuwa. Maigida was congratulated for using her charitable spirit to support the academic future of young Nigerians.
