Kano State Government approves N100m loan for wheat farmers

Kano State government has approved N100 million loan for disbursement to 5,000 wheat farmers in the state.

The Chairman, Wheat Farmers Association in the state, Alhaji Faruk Rabi’u made the disclosure on Sunday in Kano in an interview with journalists.

He said that the facility was intended to encourage the farmers boost wheat production.

He said that the farmers were expected to pay back the loan after selling the commodity, adding that many companies had indicated interest to purchase the commodity from the farmers.

“It has been agreed that the farmers will pay back the loan after harvesting and selling the produce.

“No fewer than 5,000 wheat farmers will benefit from the facility which will soon be disbursed to them,’’ he said.

Rabi’u said that there were about 37 irrigation clusters across the 44 Local Government Areas of the state.
