Lamine Yamal no show as Portugal wins UEFA Nations League on Penalties
It was a scintillating game in Bayern Munich today as Spain went up against Portugal for the final game of the UEFA Nations League. In the end Portugal had the last laugh as they beat Spain 5:3 on Penalties.
Spain had taken the lead in the first only for Portugal to equalize five minutes later. And then in the closing minutes of the second half, Spain went up in the game again 2:1.
But in the second half Spain seemed to go to sleep as Portugal once again equalized through Ronaldo. From then on it was all tactical play as the game ended 2:2 after the extra time of thirty minutes.
In the ensuing penalties, Portugal scored all their five penalty kicks while Spain netted only three of their kicks to lift the 2025 UEFA Nations League.
Lamine Yamal, the Spanish star player put up a poor show as he was rarely active in the game and was subsequently substituted in the second half of the extra time. He should have been substituted earlier in the game as he seemed tired and hardly made any run. For the second goal by Portugal he was clearly beaten to the game and simply stayed
