“The India Trade Show” in Lagos, Nigeria.

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with High Commission of India, Nigeria and supported by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Department of Commerce, Government of India, is organizing “The India Show” in Lagos, Nigeria from August 25 to 27, 2015, at the Eko Convention Centre, Victoria isaldn Lagos. “The India Show” is an initiative of the Government of India to promote “Brand India” and the Indian industry, overseas, especially in developing countries and emerging markets with a demand for Indian products and Technologies.

With a population of 175 million, Nigeria is Africa’s most populous nation and is considered a political and economic powerhouse in the continent. India is currently Nigeria’s second largest trading partner. Nigeria is the largest trading partner of India in Africa. Nigeria is also the largest market in Africa for Indian exports. A large number of Indian companies have footprints in Nigeria, which have made substantial investments in Nigeria. Bilateral annual trade turnover was over US$ 17.3 billion in 2011-12 registering the growth of over 34%. The key U.S. partner is rich in oil, a major trading partner with China, and is the hub of global business in the region. Nigeria has been among the fastest growing economies in the world in the past decade with an annual average growth of 6.7%.

Throughout the last 10 years, Nigeria has been carrying an ambitious reforms agenda. The economy responded with strong growth between 2003 and 2010 – averaging 7.6% growth. It is ranked 30th (40th in 2005, 52nd in 2000), in the world in terms of GDP purchasing power parity (PPP) as of 2013, and has now surpassed South Africa as the biggest economy in Africa after a rebasing calculation almost doubled its gross domestic product to more than $500 billion, and is in line to becoming one of the 20 largest economies in the world by 2020.
