A New Bus Service, Lagride Omni shared-ride service, Launched in Lagos
Lagos’ transport scene is taking a bold leap forward with the unveiling of the Lagride Omni shared-ride service redefining what group mobility means in Africa’s most dynamic city. Developed by Lagos’ leading smart mobility platform, the Omni introduces a low-cost, air-conditioned, and tech-driven solution crafted for schools, offices, churches, and community groups. It’s more than a vehicle—it’s a movement towards modernity, connection, and collective ease.
Built to replace the haphazard rhythm of the city’s ubiquitous Korope minibuses, the Lagride Omni offers a smoother, safer, and cleaner way to move through Lagos. With wide seats, ample legroom, and reliable air conditioning, it turns the daily commute into a shared experience of comfort rather than chaos. Riders can travel together—colleagues heading to work, students on field trips, families to gatherings—all without the constant stops and delays that define the city’s traditional transport.
Early adopters have embraced the Omni for its affordability and convenience. It costs less than traditional ride-hailing options while delivering premium comfort and privacy. Each ride, whether for one passenger or six, travels directly from pickup to destination with no interruptions. Bookings can be made easily through the Lagride app, ensuring that comfort, control, and cost-efficiency converge in one seamless journey.
At the launch, Chief Diana Chen, Chairman of Lagride, framed the Omni as a transformative chapter in Lagos’ mobility story. “Mobility is one of the greatest enablers of opportunity,” she remarked. “When we make transportation modern, safe, and affordable, we’re not just moving people—we’re connecting dreams, families, and futures. The Omni is how Lagos begins to move as one.”
Each Omni vehicle represents a balance of innovation and inclusivity. GPS-enabled and operated by professionally trained drivers certified by the Lagride Academy, the vehicles ensure not just comfort but trust. The Academy, created in partnership with the Lagos State Government and transport regulators, upholds strict standards of safety and customer service.
According to Mr. Jubril Arogundade, Acting Managing Director of Lagride, the Omni was designed to respond to the pulse of the city itself. “Lagosians move together—whether to work, to worship, or to celebrate. The Omni captures that rhythm,” he said. “It lets one person book for many, simplifying coordination and strengthening the sense of community that defines Lagos.”

Modern Transport for Modern Groups
The Omni’s design reflects Lagos’ modern tempo—efficient yet social, ambitious yet grounded. With its flexible route planning, air-conditioned interiors, and digital convenience, it gives groups a way to move without stress or confusion. Organisations, churches, and schools can now organise trips without juggling multiple cars or negotiating with unregulated drivers.
Bookings can be made directly through the Lagride app or via WhatsApp for group and event travel. The platform accommodates corporate billing, cashless payments, and pre-paid ride options, providing flexibility to suit businesses, institutions, and private users alike.
Empowering Drivers and Strengthening Communities
Beyond technology and transport, the Lagride Omni carries a deeper social ambition. The company has launched a major recruitment drive for 1,000 new drivers—offering professional training, certification, and a clear pathway to stable income. Through the Lagride Academy’s partnership with LASTMA and other transport-safety bodies, each driver gains not just a job but a career rooted in professionalism and civic pride.
Mr. Arogundade emphasised that the Omni is “both a transport revolution and an empowerment programme,” explaining that “every ride represents a livelihood, and every driver becomes part of the heartbeat of a safer, smarter Lagos.”
In its essence, the Lagride Omni is more than a ride—it’s a reflection of Lagos’ restless creativity, its desire to evolve without losing its communal spirit. By blending technology, comfort, and shared purpose, Lagride is doing more than modernising mobility; it’s helping Lagos rediscover the art of moving forward—together.
