Express interest In The West Africa Clean Cooking Fund
The West Africa Clean Cooking Fund is dedicated to transforming practices in a region where over 267 million individuals remain reliant on traditional biomass fuels for cooking. This reliance leads to considerable health problems, particularly for women, as well as environmental issues such as deforestation and heightened greenhouse gas emissions.
The Fund will be bolstered by a commitment of US$1 million from The Worthington Companies Foundation, along with contributions from various organizations, to promote qualified projects that establish the necessary infrastructure, equipment, and training for the sustainable adoption of clean and safe cooking using liquid propane gas (LPG).
Behavior-Change Campaigns
Encouraging sustainable cooking practices through interactive activities, cooking classes, and demonstrations on how to prepare traditional dishes with LPG, thereby promoting the long-term adoption of cleaner cooking methods.
Consumer Education
Equipping communities with information regarding the health, economic, and environmental advantages of LPG, enabling individuals to make informed choices that favor cleaner and safer cooking practices.
Consumer Financing
Increasing access to LPG through microfinance and adaptable financing options, making clean cooking solutions more affordable and facilitating a smooth transition for households from traditional fuels.
Women’s Empowerment
Empowering women to become advocates for clean cooking by providing training, leadership opportunities, and resources that enhance their influence in household energy decisions and economic activities, thus contributing to the development of healthier communities.
