Hard fighting PSG defeat Arsenal to win 2026 UEFA Champions League
PSG today in Budapest proved they are the real champions of Europe as they came from a goal down in the first half to defeat Arsenal on penalties, ending the game 5:4 and retaining the UEFA Champions League.
Arsenal came into the game hot and smoking and in the sixth minute of play Havertz scored the opening goal. It appeared as if PSG would concede more goals but they held on and came strong as the game progressed. In the second half their opportunity came when they were awarded a penalty and Dembele made the best of it to equalize for his club.
The game dragged on to 30 minutes extra time in search of the winner but the defences of both teams held strong and it had to be decided on penalties. In the ensuing penalties Mendez lost his kick for PSG while Eze and Gabriel Jesus lost their kicks to hand the game to PSG as winners.
PSG were the more attacking side with 72% ball possession while Arsenal were more defensive especially after scoring the first goal of the match.
This victory places PSG in the top class of European football and one of the few clubs to win the Champions League back to back. What makes this win more outstanding is the fact that Mpape left them for Real Madrid so as to win the Champions League and for the two years he has gone PSG are winners. Congratulations to PSG and to Dembele. Great Team.
