SCUML refers to Special Control Unit Against Money Laundering and is part of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). It is crucial for individuals and entities to be aware that any attempts to engage with third parties for assistance in facilitating SCUML registration and certification are done at their own risks and SCUML will not be liable under any circumstances”.

“Furthermore, where these third party individuals and entities provide emails, phone numbers and other information that are not valid or non-operational during registration process, the DNFBP and its Directors will be held personally accountable. SCUML will not be assume responsibility for any unsuccessful attempts to establish communication with these emails, phone numbers or physical addresses”.

Steps to Obtain a SCUML Certificate in Nigeria

1. Register Your Business with the CAC – Ensure that your business is correctly registered at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). Your CAC documents will be required in SCUML application.

2. Register your business with the FIRS and obtain a Tax Identification Number (TIN) for your business

3. Prepare Required Documents

  1. Prepare the following documents for submission:

4. Follow Up – Once you have submitted, the application is screened by SCUML officials. You may be asked for additional documents or clarity.

5. Certificate Retrieval – You will get your SCUML certificate upon approval. You can either:
