Stock Market Capitalization increases by 0.27% on Wednesday

  • Today, the Nigerian Stock market continued its positive momentum as the ASI and stock market capitalisation increased by 0.27% to 109,059.33 points and 68.54trn. The gain was driven by demand in NNFM (+10.00%), MAYBAKER(+9.62%) and OANDO(+8.08%) which outweighed selling pressure in MULTIVERSE(-9.63%), LEGENDINT(-5.41%) and TRANSCORP(-4.65%). Consequently, the ASI year-to-date return closed at 5.96% from 5.67%  yesterday.
  • Trade turnover also settled higher, relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions up by 83.72% to N19.80bn, while the volume added 6.58% to 531.29m units. GTCO(-0.65%) led the volume chart with 53.27m units, while MTNN(-0.36%) led the value chart with N5.58bn.
  • Market breadth closed positive at 1.42-to-1 ratio with advancing issues outnumbering the declining ones. NNFM(+10.00%) led the gainers table MULTIVERSE(-9.63%) led the laggards log.

NASD SUMMARY

  • In the NASD OTC market today, NSI and market capitalisation lost 6.46% to close at 3,142.6units and 1.84bn respectively.
  • Trade volume decreased by 99.59% to close at 1,711,538units, and value edged lower by 94.15% to close at 61.66m. This indicates weak investors sentiment and participation.
