Stock market index rose 0.41% on Thursday as DANGCEM, WAPCO, FIRSTHOLDCO and NESTLE gain

- The uptrend was driven by buying interest in select large cap stocks such as DANGCEM (+2.42%), WAPCO (+2.31%), FIRSTHOLDCO (+2.40%), and NESTLE (+1.16%), which collectively offset mild profit-taking in DANGSUGAR (-2.51%), UBA (-0.94%), CUSTODIAN (-4.55%), and NEM (-3.43%).
- Sectoral performance was largely positive, with only the Insurance Index (-1.35%) closing in the negative territory. Conversely, the Industrial Goods index (+1.44%) led the gainers, followed by the Consumer Goods (+0.24%), Banking (+0.21%), and the Oil &Gas (+0.18%) indices.
- Market activity notably improved, with the transaction volume and trade value increased by 11.13% and 35.47%, respectively. CONHALLPLC (+0.42%) led the volume chart with 40.95mn units, while GTCO (+0.11%) led the value charts with trades worth N2.58bn.
- Market breadth closed positive at 1.20x, indicating more gainers than decliners. STERLINGNG (+6.49%) led the thirty (30) gainers, while SUNUASSUR (-9.71%) led the twenty-five (25) laggards, with remaining stocks closing flat.
