Technip Energies Wins Service Provider of the Year Award for LNG and energy transition projects in Africa
Technip Energies, a leading global engineering and technology firm, has been honoured with the Service Provider of the Year Award at the African Energy Week (AEW): Invest in African Energies 2025 conference. The recognition highlights the company’s outstanding engineering achievements and its growing influence across Africa’s LNG and decarbonisation sectors. The award also underscores Technip Energies’ consistent excellence in delivering complex infrastructure projects while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and local content development.
One of the company’s landmark accomplishments is the Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) Project, located offshore Mauritania and Senegal, which officially began commercial operations in June 2025. Technip Energies managed the entire lifecycle of the project’s Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel — the first of its kind in the region. This milestone marks a significant leap forward for West Africa’s gas export capacity. The FPSO, with a processing capacity of 500 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, supports annual production of 2.3 million tons of LNG. Through its Dakar office, the company has also invested heavily in training programs and partnerships with local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), reinforcing its dedication to skills development and local value creation.
In Mozambique, Technip Energies continues to cement its leadership position in the LNG industry through several high-impact projects. As the consortium leader, the company successfully delivered Coral South FLNG, Africa’s first floating LNG facility, which shipped its inaugural cargo in December 2022. Building on this success, Technip Energies and JGC Corporation were awarded the Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) contract for the Rovuma LNG Project in 2024, led by ExxonMobil. This initiative integrates modular and electric-driven technologies, representing a major advancement in low-carbon gas production. In July 2025, the company secured another significant contract, valued between €250 million and €500 million, for preliminary engineering of a new Floating LNG (FLNG) unit, widely anticipated to be the Coral North expansion.
According to NJ Ayuk, Executive Chairman of the African Energy Chamber, “Technip Energies has shown remarkable technical expertise and dependability across some of Africa’s most complex energy developments. This award recognises not only the scale but also the sophistication of the company’s achievements. Projects like GTA and Coral South demonstrate that Africa can deliver world-class energy infrastructure that meets the highest global benchmarks.”
Through a strategic blend of engineering innovation, local capacity building, and sustainable development, Technip Energies continues to shape the future of Africa’s energy landscape — driving progress, fostering partnerships, and setting new standards for excellence in the continent’s evolving energy sector.
