The Nigerian stock market All-Share Index closed flat on Tuesday

  • The Nigerian equities market held steady in today’s session, as the NGX All-Share Index closed flat at 147,710.96 points. As a result, the year-to-date (YTD) return was largely unchanged at 43.51%, while the market capitalisation expanded by N56.72bn, settling at N93.82trn.
  • Market performance was supported by moderate gains in the BUACEMENT (+0.63%), INTBREW (+3.57%), DANGCEM (+0.10%), with selloffs recorded in UBA (-1.17%), NB (-1.95%), and DANGSUGAR (-1.64%).
  • Sectoral performance was mixed, as the Insurance (+1.01%), Industrial Goods (+0.30%), and Consumer Goods (+0.10%) indices posted gains, while the Banking (-0.37%) and the Oil & Gas (-0.09%) indices declined.
  • Market activity was mixed, with the transaction volume declining by 20.73% and value of trades rose 28.71%, respectively. FIDELITYBK (+0.25%) led the volume chart with 50.92mn units, while MTNN (+0.00%) led the value of trades worth N2.46bn.
  • Market breadth closed negative at 0.66x, indicating more decliners than gainers. REGALINS (+8.82%) led the twenty-three (23) gainers, while AUSTINLAZ (-7.94%) led the thirty-five (35) laggards, with remaining stocks closing flat. 

NASD Summary

  • The NASD reversed losses from previous session, with the NASD OTC Securities Index (NSI) and market capitalisation rising by 0.38%, closing at 3,455.47 points and N2.07trn, respectively. 
  • Market activity was mixed, as transaction volume surged by 217.68% while value of trades dropped by 97.23%. 
  • SD11PLC (+5.37%) topped the market gainers, while SDMIXREAL (-4.86%) led the decliners in today’s session.
