Ghana to Host Hip-Hop Celebration, Talking Drums Festival, this December
Accra, Ghana’s pulsating capital, is set to make global music history this December 2025 as it hosts Africa’s Biggest Hip-Hop Celebration, the first-ever Talking Drums Festival — a monumental two-day celebration of hip-hop culture and its Afro-diasporic roots. Taking place on December 29th and 30th, 2025, the festival (www.TalkingDrums.Live) will unite some of the biggest names in international hip-hop for an unforgettable 48-hour showcase of rhythm, culture, and creativity.
Bringing together over 40 performers from the U.S., U.K., and across Africa, the event is expected to attract tens of thousands of fans from around the world, transforming Accra into a global hub for music, art, and cultural exchange.
According to Ruddy Kwakye, Executive Producer of the festival, “For more than five decades, hip-hop has shaped not only music but countless creative industries around the world. The Talking Drums Festival will celebrate that influence — blending the pulse of the music, the power of live performance, and the energy of the fans — to highlight the genre’s deep connection to Africa and its enduring global dominance.”

In partnership with the Black Star Experience, Ghana’s national cultural branding initiative, the festival continues the spirit of the Beyond the Return campaign — a global call for the African diaspora to reconnect with their roots through music, heritage, art, and tourism.
