Meta celebrates Africa’s ‘Rising Stars’ in ‘Made by Africa, Loved by the World’ campaign

On May 25, Meta (http://www.Facebook.com) announced the third version of its pan-African ‘Made by Africa, Loved by the World’ campaign as part of the Africa Day celebrations. This year’s edition, themed “Rising Stars,” aims to magnify the voices and experiences of eight rising African stars who are establishing a global presence and transforming the way Africa is perceived on the international arena.

This year’s self-shot ‘vlog-styled’ short stories provide a window into the creators’ world and highlight how being African inspires their creativity, representing numerous creative fields ranging from music, fashion, lifestyle, to art. Along with this, Meta is conducting a dedicated community Reels challenge – #ShareYourAfrica #AfricaMade – to encourage the African Instagram community to showcase their identity, whether through dancing, music, fashion, food, or art. Meta will host a fireside discussion with a variety of significant personalities from around the continent to discuss the worldwide influence of Africa’s young and how platforms like Instagram are helping to fuel their global appeal on Africa Day.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate Africa Day this year by amplifying the stories of just some of our talented rising stars from across the continent who are shining a spotlight on African culture, music, food, dance, fashion, and so much more in their own voices,” said Kezia Anim-Addo, Director of Communications, Sub-Saharan Africa, Meta. Every day, we witness young African creatives leveraging Meta technologies such as Instagram and Facebook to share their experiences, express themselves, and bring others together in amazing and exciting ways. We’re delighted that our technology can help to spread these voices and stories, both locally and beyond.
