MultiChoice Slashes DStv and GOtv Decoder Prices Ahead of The Festive Season
Good news for Nigerians! MultiChoice Nigeria, owners of DStv and GOtv, just announced another major slash in decoder prices, making premium entertainment more affordable than ever. Effective November 1, 2025, you can now get a brand-new DStv decoder for only ₦7,900 (previously ₦10,000) and a GOtv decoder for ₦6,500!
The DStv dish kit now goes for ₦10,000, while the GOtenna goes for ₦3,500. This is the second major slash this 2025, coming hot on the heels of the June reduction under the “We’ve Got You” campaign, where DStv decoders dropped 50% from ₦20,000 to ₦10,000 and GOtv from ₦18,600 to ₦9,900.
Why the Price Drop? ????
MultiChoice is pulling all the stops to make things a bit easier for Nigerian families as economic times get tough. Tope Oshunkeye, Executive Head of Marketing, said:
“This price slash makes it possible for more families to enjoy quality local and international entertainment without putting too much pressure on their pockets. At MultiChoice, we remain committed to making world-class storytelling accessible to every home.”
The move coincides with the launch of their Festive Campaign, which promises a lineup of kids’ content, blockbuster movies, and local originals: The Low Priest, Mother of the Brides, and Etiti. Talk about perfect timing, just when families want to bond for the holidays!
MultiChoice has been feeling the heat. It lost 1.4 million subscribers in Nigeria alone between 2023 and 2025, citing high inflation, power issues, piracy, and competition from streaming giants like Netflix and Showmax. Nigeria accounted for 77% of losses across Africa!
Earlier slashes, like the 50% cut in June, plus free upgrades, were responses to this, in addition to pressure by regulators like the FCCPC. With Canal+ now in control, more aggressive strategies have been rolled out across Africa, including up to 40% cuts in some markets.
