Nigerian stocks gain 0.58% on Thursday

The Nigerian stocks continued its recovery during the trading session, as the NGX All-Share Index (ASI) and market capitalisation advanced by 0.58% to close at 120,977.20 points and N76.58trn, respectively. Consequently, the year-to-date (YTD) performance of the ASI improved to 17.54%, up from 16.92% recorded in the preceding trading session.

The positive performance was predominantly influenced by renewed investor interest in GTCO (+3.44%), TRANSCORP (+1.75%), and ZENITHBANK (+1.75%). These gains served to counterbalance the declines observed in FIRSTHOLDCO (-0.19%), ACCESSCORP (-2.60%), and HONYFLOUR (-1.92%).

Market breadth was positive at 3.60:1, indicating that advancing stocks significantly outnumbered declining stocks. ACADEMY (+10.0%) led the fifty-three (53) market gainers, while NEIMETH (-8.48%) led the fourteen (14) market losers.

NASD Summary

In the NASD OTC market, both the NASD Securities Index (NSI) and market capitalisation registered modest gains, increasing by 0.07% to conclude the trading session at 3,392.0 points and N1.99trn, respectively.

Trading activity decreased, notwithstanding the positive market performance. Total volume traded declined by 41.99%, amounting to 425,567 units, whereas the value of transactions experienced a marginal decrease of 2.49%.
