Unity Bank and Afrigo Team Up to Make Payments Easier for Everyone

Unity Bank Plc has reiterated its dedication to promoting electronic payment adoption and enhancing financial inclusion by collaborating with the local card scheme provider, AfriGo, to increase card usage among its retail customers.

This commitment was announced during a significant strategic business meeting at Unity Bank’s headquarters in Lagos on Friday, attended by AfriGo’s Executive Management team.

During the discussion, Unity Bank’s Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Ebenezer Kolawole, remarked: “We are dedicated to establishing the AfriGo Card as a primary delivery channel for Unity Bank. As a national domestic card scheme, it should be promoted both internally and externally as a local solution with immense potential to transform Nigeria’s card payment landscape.”

Mr. Kolawole also assured the Bank’s ongoing support for the adoption of AfriGo cards throughout its network, while encouraging AfriGo to enhance awareness campaigns to foster greater market acceptance.

In his comments, the Managing Director of AfriGo, Ebehijie Momoh, praised Unity Bank for its support of the scheme, noting that the Bank is among the top five adopters of the AfriGo card and emphasized its increasing role in promoting financial inclusion and improving access to electronic payments.

He pointed out that AfriGo has consistently innovated with technologies that facilitate instant payments and offline capabilities, ensuring wider access to e-payment systems in underserved markets. He also mentioned that partnerships with solutions like Tap & Go have contributed to the rise of contactless payment adoption, enhancing convenience for cardholders commuting for work, business, or leisure.
