AI Expo Africa holds in Johannesburg, South Africa, from November 2
The largest AI & IA event in Africa, AI Expo Africa, will hold its highly regarded conference & trade expo from November 2-3 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The yearly AI Expo Africa, which is about to enter its sixth year, brings together local and foreign vendors of the newest, state-of-the-art 4IR technologies, ranging from the largest multinational corporations to the tiniest, most recent SMMEs. The show’s main focus is on practical applications that you can use right now. Enterprise and government purchasers, deployment and service providers, start-ups, educators, non-governmental organizations, and ecosystem builders make up its audience.
“The Gauteng Region has a significant and growing tech ecosystem focused on 4IR technologies, and we are really happy to see our regional SMMEs being represented in numbers at AI Expo Africa,” said Nonnie Kubeka, Executive Director of the Gauteng Convention & Event Bureau. The goal of the event is to facilitate the connection between suppliers and consumers in one of the economic areas that is expanding the fastest. Since artificial intelligence (AI) is affecting every industry and some facets of society, it is imperative that our nation and region focus on this area because it is a vital component of our ICT initiatives and we want to highlight the local ecosystem to a wider audience.
The show format, which has a community of over 50,000 practitioners, is based on the wildly successful previous five yearly events, which solidified AI Expo Africa’s position as the biggest business gathering of its kind. Attendees include vendors, SMMEs, international trade missions, enterprise buyers, governments, and global brands.
“This is our 6th Anniversary Edition and biggest show to-date, with over 90+ companies in the expo hall, many of which are local and regional SMMEs,” said Dr. Nick Bradshaw, CEO and Founder of AI Expo Africa. There is a whole new class of businesses and speakers talking about the newest technologies and methods that everybody can understand because of the excitement surrounding the debut of ChatGPT and generative AI in 2022.”
More than 1300 delegates are expected to attend the event, which will also feature more than 50 speakers and a number of other features like the Women in AI Pavilion by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), a Start-up Zone, a University R&D Poster Zone, a Gen AI / VR / Robot showcase, seven networking sessions, and four Skills Workshops. Because fresh start-ups are exhibiting at the expo, there will undoubtedly be comparable interest as there was last year, when a number of venture capitalists found local IT companies they wanted to invest in.
The GIZ Women in AI Pavilion at this year’s event will feature nine cutting-edge, female-led start-ups in the smart technology space. GIZ’s Digital abilities for Jobs and Income project, which is being carried out on behalf of the German government (BMZ), aims to empower and enhance the digital abilities of young women and girls while also making it easier for them to integrate into South Africa’s rapidly growing digital economy. “To improve women’s involvement in South Africa’s digital transformation, it is critical to provide networking opportunities and highlight positive female role models in the digital economy,” emphasizes Godfrey Nkosi, the committed Technical Advisor at GIZ.
A complimentary copy of the “State of AI in Africa Report” will be given to every attendee, and they are also urged to become members of the recently established SA AI Association, which will be in attendance and actively advocating for the adoption of responsible AI.
