Anambra International Airport to commence test-run on April 30, 2021,
The Anambra International Airport built by the Obiano administration will commence the test running of its facilities on April 30, 2021. The airport which is located in Umueri is one of the modern airport in the country with facilities to handle night flights
Breaking the news, the the state’s commissioner for information and public enlightenment, Don Adinuba, said the airport will begin with domestic operations, before taking on regional and international ones.
He also stated that the airport’s 5.7km long and 60m wide runway is the longest and largest in Africa. “Its facilities are the most modern in the whole country, and such pieces of equipment as the fire trucks rank among the most modern in the world. It is the only airport in Nigeria with satellite landing instruments. The implication is that planes can land there any time of the day or night,” he said.
“True, Anambra International Cargo/Passenger Airport may be the fifth airport to be built by any Nigerian state government. But it is the only one conceived and built for international operations. It is the only built in just one year three months.”
The airport will stand out ad one of the legacy projects of the Obaino administration and is expected to be one of the few viable and commercially sustainable airports in the country considering the commercial and business nature of the State.
For along time, the people of Anambra have yearned for an Airport with many traveling through the Asaba airport or through the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu. But with the Completion of the modern Anambra Airport in Umueri, Flying in and out of the State will become cheaper and easier.
