| We are thrilled to launch our most ambitious programme yet: the JournalismAI Innovation Challenge, supported by the Google News Initiative This new grantmaking programme will enable 35 news organisations around the world to experiment, implement and share best practice across AI technologies. Selected news organisations will be awarded grants to support applications focused on AI tools and technologies across three thematic areas, to:Fight misinformation and disinformationExperiment with new formats to engage new and existing audiences (audio, mobile, video)Identify ways to grow subscription and support diverse forms of revenue Grants across these three thematic areas will be awarded as follows: 10 ideas will receive $250,000 each25 ideas will receive $50,000 each Who should apply? Announcing the new programme, Matt Cooke, Head of Ecosystem Investment Programs, AI & Misinformation, Google News Initiative said: ❝We’ve worked with JournalismAI for six years to help develop industry research and share best practices with news organisations. We’re excited to build on that partnership by supporting this new programme to bolster small and medium sized news publishers’ AI innovation efforts. We look forward to learning more about the selected projects, which we hope will inspire journalists and publishers around the world.❞ The programme is open to small and medium-sized publishers that are already exploring the possibilities of AI technologies.
