BNI supports Honor Flight veterans

The Tehachapi Mountain Valley Professionals Chapter of Business Networking International BNI raised $850 to help send a veteran on an Honor Flight.

BNI President Dr. Darren Robison presented the check to Rick Zanutto from Honor Flight Kern County on Friday, Feb. 10.

“Business Networking International (BNI) is the largest business networking group,” Robison said. “We at BNI are dedicated to being able to help out charities and our community, and we have chosen Honor Flight.”

According to Zanutto, a total of 26 Kern County Honor Flights have been made since 2012, and more than 850 veterans have gone on the trip. Zanutto has served as a guardian on six flights.

“It’s not possible without organizations like BNI,” Zanutto said. “Tehachapi, and even the whole county, has been supportive.”

Said Robison, “We feel it is important to reach out to veterans and support them to help them attend this memorable opportunity.”

According to Zanutto, Kern County Honor Flights now hosts a breakfast on the fourth Saturday of each month at 9 a.m. at St. Malachy Catholic Church, located at 407 W. E St. The breakfast is offered free to all veterans, and costs $5 for guests.
