Businesses grind as fuel scarcity bites
Businesses across the country are reeling from the ongoing fuel scarcity in the country while commuters are paying a heavy toll for the predicament.
A visit to the NNPC filling station along Alfred Riwane road, Ikoyi, Lagos, shows hundreds of vehicles lining up and struggling to buy. It was reported yesterday that the NNPC station adjusted its retail price upwa4ds to N855 per liter.
As a result of the fuel scarcity, commuters now pay double to get to their destinations. An Uber driver said he had no choice but buy at black market rate for N1,500 per liter.
The issue of fuel scarcity has become both endemic and perenial in Nigeria with various governments unable to find a lasting solution. Unfortunately, Nigeria which is a major oil producer and exporter, has over the years failed to give its citizens smooth access to petrol without the supply and price hickups.
