CcHUB Launches Global Literacy Pledge for Multilingual Education

Co-creation HUB (CcHUB), announces the launch of the Global Literacy Pledge: Promoting multilingual literacy for inclusive education on International Literacy Day 2024

This initiative is dedicated to promoting multilingual literacy as a cornerstone for inclusive and equitable education. CcHUB invites individuals, organizations, EdTech startups and communities to join forces in supporting literacy in mother tongues and beyond, ensuring that no one is left behind.

The Global Literacy Pledge initiative is in collaboration with leading EdTech startups Genti Media, Nkenne, and Topset.

“Language is culture and it links people to their heritage. So it is very important to learn our native languages and to connect people.”  Michael Odokara – Okigbo (Nkenne)

“The written language and communications is the easiest and most comprehensive way of storing language, culture and our collective stories.”- Frank Akinwande Williams (Topset)

“When we look at educational policy it recommends initial learning in peoples local languages.” Ojiugo Uche (Genti Media)

Multilingual education not only preserves cultural heritage, it empowers individuals and communities. It is a bridge that connects diverse cultures, fosters mutual understanding, and promotes peaceful coexistence.

“Africa has over three thousand languages; however only a few of these languages are used to support teaching and learning. At CcHUB we are constantly supporting EdTech organizations seeking to leverage technology to break barriers and promote multilingual literacy across the continent.” Chinyelu Akpa Practice Lead, Education (re:learn)
