CEO of Upperlink Limited, Segun Akano, Appointed ccNSO Liaison to ALAC
Mr. Segun Akano, a member of the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) Board and the M.D/CEO of Upperlink Limited; an indigenous software development company in Nigeria; has been appointed as liaison to the At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) by the Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO). ALAC is an advisory committee to Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the organization that administers the Internet’s Domain Name System and addressing system.
Katrina Sataki, ccNSO Chair said In accordance with Section 10.3 (c) of ICANN Bylaws, ALAC and the ccNSO Council have agreed to exchange observers/liaisons.
The Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO) appointed Mr. Segun Akano (.ng) to replace Wafa Dahmani as ccNSO liaison to the ALAC, starting 14 March 2019. Mr. Wafa Dahmani had been elected to the Address Supporting Organization Address Council (ASO AC).
ccNSO is a body within the ICANN structure created for and by ccTLD managers, of which the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) is a member.
Since its creation in 2003, the ccNSO has provided a forum for country code Top Level Domain (ccTLD) managers to meet and discuss topical issues of concern to ccTLDs from a global perspective.
The ccNSO provides a platform to nurture consensus, technical cooperation and skill building among ccTLDs and facilitates the development of voluntary best practices for ccTLD managers.
