Commodity prices shows mixed performance
Commodity prices showed varied returns in the most recent trading week. Maize climbed by 10.85%, Soybean decreased by 1.32%, and Sorghum and Sesame remained unchanged year on year.
The open market saw a w-o-w fall in the price of most commodities. Sesame suffered the most, down 6.21% year on year. The recent price increase in maize is projected to continue in the coming weeks as demand for the commodity remains robust.
The AFEX Commodity Index (ACI) increased by 2.17% while the AFEX Export Index (AEI) decreased by 0.01% year on year. The ACI and AEI finished the week with 513.09 and 228.65 index points, respectively.
