financing for the construction of homes in Africa, refuge Africa has urged African governments to put partnerships first in their efforts to offer their population affordable homes.
Housing holds a key place in the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), according to Mr. Thierno-Habib Hann, the managing director of Shelter Afrique. Mr. Hann is adamant that in order to achieve significant and significant breakthroughs in the area of affordable housing provision, the creation of sustainable partnerships is of the utmost importance.
According to Mr. Hann, “achieving housing goals will require collaborative efforts and forging fruitful partnerships among key players in the housing sector.” Adequate housing is one of the Sustainable Development Goals.
According to a study by Shelter Afrique’s Centre of Excellence (CoE), there are an estimated 56 million housing units shortfall in Africa, more than 90 percent of which fall under the affordable housing category. “A well-coordinated and cooperative effort among all stakeholders, including governments, multilateral institutions, non-profit organizations, and the corporate sector, will be necessary to address this deficit. Together, we continue to be dedicated to coming up with creative solutions to address the housing shortage, according to Mr. Hann.
In order to lay a strong foundation for a cooperation, Mr. Hann spoke on the sidelines of the United Nations Habitat Assembly, which was held last week in Nairobi, Kenya. He also spoke with the Uganda delegation, which was led by the Hon. Namuganza Persis Princess, Minister of State for Housing. He also had private discussions about future collaboration on sustainable urban development with the Niger delegation, which was led by Hon. Mr. Maizoumbou Laoual Amadou, Niger’s Minister of Town Planning and Housing.
Mr. Hann collaborated with the Zimbabwean delegation at the conference, which was led by the Hon. Daniel Garwe, Minister of National Housing and Social Amenities, to talk about joint venture options with the attendees.
