IYF Partners with Paradigm Initiative in a Google funded project to Boost IT Skills and Job Opportunities
A collaboration between the International Youth Foundation (IYF) and the Paradigm Initiative, which is financed by Google.org, has begun to train 300 young Nigerians with the skills needed to secure career prospects in the Information and Technology (IT) sector.
The project, which targets youth aged 18 to 30, offers training in five Google certificates, namely IT Support, UX Design, Project Management, Digital Marketing & E-Commerce, and Data Analytics, as well as wrap-around services such as soft skills, with the goal of improving their employability and career prospects.
Participants will benefit from mentorship sessions in addition to technical instruction and soft skills.
Mr. Ihueze Nwobilor, project lead at Paradigm Initiative, commented on the initiative, saying, “In today’s rapidly evolving world, the IT sector plays a critical role in enabling efficient management and exchange of information across various industries.” As a result of this trend, organizations are investing more in IT to meet the growing demand to modernize operations. Aspiring IT professionals, in particular, must have current skills in order to manage the evolving IT landscape.”
Aspiring professionals must be interested in the digital environment, the IT industry, or project management. The collaboration intends to provide job placement assistance to learners who successfully complete the course and earn Google Career Certificates in their field of study. The organizations’ collaboration will bridge Nigeria’s digital skills gap while also playing a crucial role in encouraging young Nigerians to prosper in the IT sector and equipping them with in-demand skills.
