Join Global Center on Adaptation for Youth Climate Adaptation Day

We’re excited to invite you to take part in two transformative events organized by the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA) for Youth Climate Adaptation Day. This is a unique opportunity to engage with climate adaptation innovators across Africa and beyond.

Here’s how you can participate:

1- The Youth Climate Adaptation Lighthouse Events

Lighthouse Events will be happening in over 100 countries, and you have a chance to drive the adaptation agenda in your community. Here’s how you can join:

1. Visit the Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day Portal, to download the Action Guide and learn more about the events.
2. Register your event on the portal to be part of the global movement.
3. Capture the essence of your event through pictures, videos, and group photos, and share them using the hashtag #Youth4AdaptationActionDay.
4. After the 12th of October, report the impact of your event on the same portal.

Let’s show the world how African youth are leading in climate adaptation!

2- The My Climate Adaptation Solution Video Competition

The My Climate Adaptation Solution Video Competition is an opportunity for young people to showcase their climate adaptation solutions ahead of Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day on October 12th. Participants are invited to create a 60-second video explaining the climate impacts they are facing and the adaptation solution they have developed. Videos will be submitted on the  Day’s portal, and the three videos with the highest amount of total votes will be announced as the winners by the CEO of GCA on 11th October 2024. 

How to Participate:

1. Open to individuals aged 18-35.
2. Participants must have developed or contributed to the solution presented.
3. Submit a 60-second vertical video in MP4 format, including your name, country, climate change impacts, and your adaptation solution. End with the question: “What’s your adaptation solution?”
4. Title the video: [Your Name]_[Your Title]_[Country].
5. Upload the video to the Youth Climate Adaptation Action Day portal.
6. Public voting opens on the 30th of September and closes on the 7th of October.

The top three videos, based on the number of votes, will be announced by the CEO of GCA on October 11th, 2024. Please note that the competition closes on the 26th of September 2024. For more information, please contact the Youth Leadership and Education team at [email protected] .
