Low Demand Induced Price Slump Across Grains in the Open Market
The absence of major buyers of commodities in the market reduced the prices of commodities in the open market.
Grains like maize, soybean and sorghum plummeted as a result of low demand. Amid harvest season for cashew, the price of cashew maintained a two-week surge, outperforming other commodities on the Exchange last week by 7.27%.
While in the international market, we saw a decline in the price of paddy rice as rice production in Thailand increased.
ACI and AEI plummeted on the Exchange by 1.39% and 1.04% w-o-w respectively, in the week under review. It is expected that the prices of grains in the coming weeks will remain low amid low demand.
