Mixed performances in the Agric commodities market
It was a muted performance for commodities listed on the Exchange, with the exceptions of Maize and Soybean.
While maize gained on the Exchange, we saw a reverse performance in the open market. Also, while Soybean bled on the Exchange, a marginal gain of 0.09% was recorded in the open market.
The ACI and AEI remained flat however, against a bearish performance in the S&P GSCI index and Nigerian ASI for the reporting week.
Meanwhile, total trades closed on the Exchange declined for the second consecutive week by 26% with 1,946 contracts consummated in the review week.
Market Price Performance
- Contracts traded on soybean on the Exchange
declined by 86% this week.
- Price of maize and paddy rice in the open market price maintain lower prices than old maize
- In the international market, ginger price dipped as some importers imported dried ginger from China at a discount to actual price
