Now Open: World Intellectual Property Day 2023 Video Competition

You have the chance to contribute your thoughts on how an inclusive innovation ecosystem may unleash the inventiveness and creativity of girls and women to create a better tomorrow for the benefit of all participants in the World Intellectual Property Day 2023 Video Competition.

In a 90-second film, explain why it’s crucial for girls and women to learn about intellectual property (IP) and how it benefits us all to be eligible to win fantastic rewards.

In order to select the three winners of the World Intellectual Property Day 2023 Video Competition, the top 10 videos will be posted on the competition platform on April 13 for an online public vote. On April 26, 2023, which is World Intellectual Property Day, the winners will be declared.

Eligibility

To participate in the competition, contestants must be at least 18 years old.
Group or individual entry submissions (up to 10 group members).
The uploaded video is fully owned by its creator.
Your video must not have already been recognized or won in another competition, nor may it have been previously released online.
The video does not infringe on any third party’s copyright, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, industrial designs, distinguishing signs, or other proprietary or intellectual property rights.
A transcript of the film is also available in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, or Spanish.

Awards

The following prizes will be given to the winners:

Digital equipment worth up to CHF 5,000 as the first prize.
Digital equipment worth up to CHF 3,000 as the second prize.
Digital equipment with a maximum value of CHF 1,000 as the third prize.
The WIPO Academy will provide training opportunities for the top 10 winning videos.

Participants are asked to produce a 90-second movie that explains the value of girls and women moving to IP and how this benefits us all under the theme “When women enter the IP world, we accelerate innovation and creativity and everyone wins.”
The video might highlight the inventiveness and ingenuity of female innovators, entrepreneurs, and inventors while also illustrating how IP rights can help women have a bigger influence on society and the economy and the overall advantages of having more women involved in innovation and IP ecosystems.

Timeline:

the 19th of March 2023 at 23:59 CET.
On April 13, 2023, 10 videos that have been shortlisted will be posted on the competition portal.
On April 13, 2023, the online public voting period will begin to choose the competition’s winners.
On April 23, 2023, at 23:59 CET, the public vote online will end.
On April 26, 2023, the winning videos will be announced.
