NUC Identifies 58 Illegal Varsities Operating In Nigeria: Warns the Public

The NUC has recently uncovered 58 illegal universities and satellite campuses operating in Nigeria. It is important to note that any certificates obtained from these institutions will not be recognized for national service, employment, or further studies.

This discovery came after the suspension of degree certificates from two francophone West African countries and other nations. An undercover journalist exposed how he obtained a degree from a university in Benin Republic within two months and was subsequently enrolled in the NYSC scheme.

Below is the list of the illegal Universities

Furthermore, the acting executive secretary of NUC announced that nine other institutions/campuses, which he referred to as “Degree Mills,” are currently under investigation or facing legal actions. These are They include;

• National University of Nigeria, Keffi, Nasarawa State:
• North Central University, Otukpo, Benue State;
• Christ Alive Christian Seminary and University, Enugu;
• Richmond Open University, Arochukwu, Abia State;
• West Coast University, Umuahia;
• Saint Clements University, lyin Ekiti, Ekiti State;
• Volta University College, Aba, Abia State;
• Illegal Satellite Campuses of Ambrose Alli University, and
• L.I.F.E Leadership University, Benin City, Edo State.

Just to clarify, the NUC warns anyone who supports or acquires a certificate from any of these unauthorized institutions is solely responsible for their actions. Certificates obtained from these sources will not be acknowledged for NYSC, job opportunities, or further education. The appropriate law enforcement agencies have also been notified and will take the necessary steps.
