Pat Utomi’s CVL Partners CBN To Train 400 Entrepreneurs In Delta and Anambra
As the country continues to seek ways to over the difficulties in the econo0my and create jobs for the teeming youth, the Centre for Values in Leader (CVL) and the Central Bank of Nigeria have entered into partnership to train entrepreneurs in Delta and Anambra states.
Speaking on the partnership in Lagos earlier in the week, founder and chief executive officer of CVL, Prof. Pat Utomi, said that the project is part of the centre’s contribution to the Federal Government efforts in the area of youth development and empowerment.
According to him, it is the second edition of the CVL “national youth intervention project to provide technical skills training, entrepreneurial and micro-enterprise development to the Nigerian youth”.
Utomi stated that the project meant for the South South zone of the country, is the second phase of the CVL National Youth Intervention Programme, adding that the it will take place in four clusters in Warri, Asaba, Agbor and Ozoro and will directly benefit 400 participants (100 from each cluster) and 5,000 indirect beneficiaries between February and October 2017. He said said some of the participants will be taken from Anambra State.
He disclosed that the first phase of the project for the South West took place in Ajegunle, Lagos, and was concluded in July 2016, adding that it empowered 100 youth with entrepreneurship business management skills and start-up kits and grants. The CVL founder said that the third phase of the project would take place in Adamawa State in the Northeast zone of the country.
Utomi said that the training would include technical/vocational skills training for sustainable income generation activities, including food production, metal works/wielding, sewing, tiling, hospitality/tourism, carpentry, vehicle repair and bricklaying. He stated that the participants will also receive training in the areas of entrepreneurship and business skills training, basic financial management, budgeting, business planning, and skills marketing to encourage profitable and self-sustaining enterprises.
The professor stated that the programme would serve as a finishing school young graduates in the area of entrepreneurship and employability, adding that it will also introduce executive vocational education, which will allow for unemployed graduates to learn vocational skills and gain business capacity.
