President Tinubu suspends all programmes of the National Social Investment Programme Agency
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has taken decisive action by suspending all ongoing programmes administered by the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA). This move comes in light of the ongoing investigation into alleged misconduct within the agency and its programmes.
The suspension applies to all four programmes under NSIPA’s jurisdiction, namely the N-Power Programme, Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme, and Home Grown School Feeding Programme. Initially, this suspension will last for a period of six weeks.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed serious concerns regarding operational deficiencies and irregularities in the disbursement of payments to the beneficiaries of these programmes. To address these issues, he has established a ministerial panel that will conduct a comprehensive review of the agency’s operations. The panel’s objective is to identify necessary reforms that will enhance the effectiveness and integrity of the NSIPA.
During this suspension period, all NSIPA-related activities, including distributions, events, payments, collaborations, and registrations, will be put on hold. This freeze aims to ensure a thorough and impartial evaluation of the agency’s processes.
The President wants to reassure stakeholders and all Nigerians that his administration is fully committed to a swift and fair process. The ultimate goal is to ensure that social intervention programmes function exactly as intended, benefiting the most vulnerable Nigerians. Rest assured, the government is dedicated to bringing about positive change and improving the lives of those in need.
