Samsung unveils Odyssey monitor series, world’s first Dual UHD gaming monitors

Samsung Electronics, a major player in the visual display market, has introduced the future of gaming monitors with the Odyssey monitor series, namely: the Odyssey Neo G9 57′′ (G95NC model) and the Odyssey Ark 55′′ (G97NC model).

The gaming monitors will be on exhibit at Gamescom 2023, the world’s largest computer and video game convention, which will be held from August 23 to 27 in Cologne, Germany, and the Odyssey Neo G9 57′′ can now be pre-ordered globally.

The Odyssey Neo G9 57′′ (G95NC model) is meant to provide breakthrough visual experiences for gamers aiming to improve their performance and gain a competitive advantage. The Odyssey Neo G9 57′′ has already won the Best of Innovation Award at CES 2023, thanks to the world’s first Dual Ultra-High-Definition (DUHD) screen and a suite of high-speed connectivity choices.

The 1000R curvature in the 57′′ 32:9 screen wraps around users with pin-sharp pictures and a broad field of view, engaging them in their games like never before.

The Quantum Matrix Technology in the screen powers Samsung’s Quantum Mini LED lighting, which provides smaller, more discrete dimming zones. As a result, the screen distinguishes between light and dark areas more clearly, with high contrast and less blooming.

By integrating VESA DisplayHDRTM1000 with Quantum Mini LED lighting, the Odyssey Neo G9 57″ makes the most of its Quantum Mini LED lighting. HDR material appears rich and lifelike with 1,000 nit peak brightness, accurate color and contrast reproduction, and increased color expression and depth.

To help players reach their full potential, the gaming performance matches the degree of visual quality. The 240 hertz (Hz) frame rate and 1ms gray-to-gray (GTG) response time1 reduce blur and ghosting, allowing players to respond quickly and seal victory while enjoying a seamless gaming experience and intense gameplay. Furthermore, AMD FreeSyncTM Premium Pro syncs the screen for a consistent, lag-free image.

The Odyssey Neo G9 57″ features VESA-certified DisplayPort (DP) 2.1 connectivity for seamless gaming, efficient video playback, and the Neo G9’s DUHD resolution of up to 240Hz.2 In addition to DP2.1, the Odyssey Neo G9 57″ includes HDMI 2.1 and a USB hub, allowing gamers to connect all of their gadgets and improve their game with less mess.

Picture-in-Picture and Picture-by-Picture modes display several inputs at once, and the monitor uses Auto Source Switch+ to connect to additional devices without switching input sources. The monitor fits in any surroundings and matches the mood of the game with ambient lighting thanks to an ergonomic stand, Core Lighting+, and CoreSync.

The Samsung Odyssey Twitch channel is also commemorating the debut of the Odyssey Neo G9 57″ with a special event called Odyssey Evolves in August and September. Throughout the event, some of the top streamers will be playing the latest games on the Odyssey Neo G9 57″ while also giving away prizes for channel followers — including a $10,000 gaming setup featuring the Odyssey Neo G9 57″.

The Odyssey Ark, the world’s first 55-inch 1000R curved gaming screen, has received significant improvements. Based on input from players, Samsung has taken the new Odyssey Ark to the next level, building on the success of the previous Odyssey Ark. Aside from the outstanding picture quality, form factor, and professional-level gaming performance, new features geared for connectivity, ease, and performance will satisfy gamers seeking ultimate entertainment.

The monitor’s 165Hz refresh rate and 1ms GTG response time3 give gamers an advantage, and Cockpit Mode opens up new viewpoints with a vertical position.

The Odyssey Ark (G97NC model) now has the new Samsung Multi View, which allows users to see up to four inputs on the screen at the same time.4 It also considerably improves split-screen capabilities, allowing players to have complete control and convenience on a single screen even when utilizing external devices. One screen with several inputs keeps workspaces organized and clutter-free, allowing gamers to concentrate on the game at hand. Users can view input from three HDMI ports as well as the DP1.4 connection simultaneously in the new Multi View. For high-quality entertainment, this new DP input can also accommodate 4K UHD broadcasts.

The Odyssey Ark is now more than just a personal gaming theater; it is a one-stop shop for all computer needs. The new Keyboard, Video, and Mouse (KVM) switch5 turns the Ark into a single command station for seamless multitasking across numerous devices. The Odyssey Neo G9 will be available for pre-order at Gamescom 2023, and the Odyssey Ark 2023 will be available in September.
