Stock market investors lose N48.30 billion as All Share index goes down by 0.17% on Wednesday
The All-Share Index of the NGX stock exchange fell by 0.17% to conclude at 52,207.77 points on Wednesday leading to the ASI’s year-to-date (YTD) return decreasing to 1.87%, and the market capitalization losing N48.30 billion to close at N28.43 trillion.
The market was dragged down by bearish sentiment in MTNN (-0.65%), NB (-6.14%), and STANBIC (-0.13%), which offset gains in ZENITHBANK (+2.13%), GTCO (+1.32%), and WAPCO (+1.27%).
Trade turnover was lower with a 2.37% decrease in transaction value. In a total of 6,254 transactions, 670.08 million shares worth N5.03 billion were swapped. With 276.53 million units exchanged, TRANSCORP (-9.49%) led the volume chart, and ACCESSCORP (+2.46%) headed the value chart with transactions totaling 1.81 billion.
On the leader’s log, ARDOVA (+9.25%) outperformed 18 other companies, while TRANSCORP (-9.49%) outperformed 15 other companies on the laggard’s table.
