The Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Programme is looking for applicants from in Africa
This is a chance for you to strengthen your abilities in public service and leadership. The University of Maryland and the U.S. Department of State are currently accepting applications from any country in Africa for the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Programme, a 12-month non-degree program.
A specialized, non-degree exchange program for talented mid-career professionals, the Humphrey Fellowship. The fellowship brings people from specified nations, including Nigeria, to the United States for a year of graduate-level study at selective American universities with a focus on leadership development and professional partnership with American peers. The program aims to offer wide professional development through a variety of activities catered to the interests of each fellow. While in the country, fellows will exchange best practices, advance their professional knowledge, and take part in seminars and conferences where they can network with top officials from the federal, state, and local governments of the United States as well as from multinational corporations and the private sector.
Fellows will also take part in professional associations (placements) that give them full-time experience to a U.S. workplace for a minimum of six weeks. The Humphrey fellowship seeks to give fellows a comprehensive experience that broadens their ideas, improves their capacity to take on more responsibility in their careers, and gives them the chance to make beneficial professional contacts. Candidates are chosen after a fiercely competitive selection process based on their demonstrated leadership skills, dedication to public service, and strong desire to bring about change in their company and society.
Candidates for the Humphrey Fellowship must possess:
an undergraduate (first university or Bachelor’s) degree; a minimum of eight years of full-time work experience; little to no prior experience in the United States; demonstrated leadership qualities; a history of community service; and evidence of English language proficiency, as measured by a TOEFL (iBT) test score of at least 100 on the internet. For their scores to be forwarded to our office, participants should enter the institution code 9616.
