To Mark The Global Money Week Unity Bank Conducts Financial Literacy Training in 15 Schools
Unity Bank Plc recently conducted financial literacy training in 15 schools across all geopolitical zones of Nigeria as part of the 2024 Global Money Week activities. The training was a key component of the Central Bank of Nigeria and Bankers Committee’s efforts to promote financial inclusion.
Mrs. Tomi Somefun, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Unity Bank, led the training session at NYSC Demonstration Secondary School in Calabar, Cross River State. Mrs. Somefun, represented by Mrs. Patricia Ahunanya, Unity Bank’s Chief Compliance Officer, shared valuable insights with the students on wealth creation, savings habits, investing, and money management skills.
The goal was to instill financial discipline and management skills to help students achieve financial independence and security, while also encouraging a culture of savings and investment. Mrs. Somefun recognized outstanding students during the session and presented them with awards. Global Money Week is an annual campaign that aims to raise awareness about the importance of financial literacy among young people.
In Nigeria, the CBN, Banker’s Committee, and Junior Achievement Nigeria work together to coordinate activities for Global Money Week, involving financial institutions with nationwide coverage.
