With Paris Olympics 2024 half way, China Leads with more gold medals

The Paris Olympics 2024 is now midway through. The games which started on July 26 is scheduled to end on August 11, in 8 days times. So far 118 out of the scheduled 329 events have been concluded and medals awarded to the winners.

The Peoples Republic of China are currently leading on the medals table with 13 gold, 9 silver and 9 Bronze Medals, a total of 31 medals so far won. The hosts, France, is currently placed second with 11 gold, 13 silver and 13 bronze medals, a total of 37 medals won so far. Australia comes in third at the moment with 11 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze medals for a total of 22 medals so far won.

Great Britain comes in fourth currently on the table with 10 gold, 10 silver and 9 bronze medals for a total of 29 medals so far won. The United States of America, which has the largest contingent of athletics to the games is currently placed fifth on the medals table with 9 gold, 18 silver and 18 bronze medals for a total of 44 medals so far won.

Medals Standing for the Paris Olympics 2024 to Change

The standings on the table of the Paris Olympics 2024 will change as more events are completed and it is projected that the USA will move up in the rankings. For the moment, they are winning more of the lesser medals than gold, placing far behind on the fifth position as against other nations that came with lesser number of Athletics but seemingly more gold focused. There are still 211 events to be concluded, making for a total of 211 gold, 211silver and 211 bronze for grabs by the athletes and their respective countries.

For the African continent, five of the countries have made it to the medals table, South Africa, Uganda, Ethiopia, Tunisia and Egypt. South Africa has one gold, one silver and two bronze medals; Uganda has one gold medal; Ethiopia has one silver medal, Tunisia has one silver medal and Egypt has one bronze medal. Nigeria and other West African countries at the Paris Olympics 2024 are yet to find their way to the medals table. This may change, and very likely so, in the coming week.
