World Press Freedom Day, U.S. Consulate Screens the Documentary: Joseph Pulitzer, Voice of the People by Chimaobi Agwu
In honor of the 2022 World Press Freedom Day, the U.S. Consulate General in collaboration with Media Career Development Network, organized the screening of the documentary “Joseph Pulitzer: Voice of the People.”
The documentary explores Joseph Pulitzer, the remarkable man behind the prestigious Pulitzer Prizes, highlighting his life and accomplishments through a combination of archival footage, reenactments and interviews with authors, journalists and scholars.
The screening of the movie was followed by a panel discussion on the important role that free and responsible media plays in shaping and maintaining a democracy.
Panelists include: Pelu Awofeso, 2010 Winner of the CNN/Multichoice African Journalist Award ; Kunle Akinrinade, 2021 WSCIJ-Nigerian Investigative Journalist of the Year; Ugonma Cokey, Deputy Director, Voice Of Nigeria;Maryann-Duke Okon, TV Host, Plus TV Africa (Moderator)
The event held at the Ikeja American Corner, Courier Plus Compound (inside former Concord Newspaper premises), Airport Road, Ikeja.
