Africa Fashion Week London, AFWL, Returns For Black History Month of October 2022
Africa Fashion Week London 2022 is back to two days at our usual venue, Freemasons’ Hall in Covent Garden on 7 & 8 October.
Doors open at 12pm for our Exhibition Marketplace. Appealing to lovers of fashion, accessories, footwear, hair and beauty, and holistic therapies, you will be able to shop and experiment with the latest designs from UK-based African-inspired designers. Our exhibition halls will be twice the size as in previous years because we KNOW how much you love to shop!
We are back to 2 days of catwalk shows – starting with one Friday evening special showcase. Saturday will start with a packed schedule – 3 catwalk shows in one day, culminating in the VVIP Catwalk Finale. Expect to see celebrity designers and celebrity guests at this showcase. We are delighted that our overseas designers will be able to travel again. We’ve missed them so much!
Also this year, we are dedicating AFWL2022 to heritage textiles. Ecobank, The Pan African Bank, is sponsoring The Adire Pavillion which will feature different Adire designers from Nigeria exhibiting various handmade authentic Adire heritage textiles.
The entrance of Freemasons’ Hall will be dedicated to the fabric. Expect to see 20ft high draping of the latest wax-resist, tie-dye and indigo fabrics with the storytelling behind each design. Learn how to make your own fabric designs with dedicated workshop classes on the methods of different pattern creation.
We are still developing our schedule and adding more exclusive content, workshops and other fashion-related activities, so keep following us on our socials.
Africa Fashion Week London is one of the major global showcases of African fashion and design devoted to supporting African -inspired emerging designers. We look forward to seeing you on 7&8 October!
