South Africa thrash Namibia 4:0 in AFCON2023; raises hope for knockout stage qualification

Themba ‘Mshishi’ Zwane showcased his exceptional skills in South Africa’s first match of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, leading his team to a resounding 4-0 victory over Namibia. Zwane’s outstanding performance has captured the attention of fans and reignited Bafana Bafana’s aspirations to progress to the knockout stages. The opening goal was scored by Percy Tau in the 14th minute, converting a penalty kick and inspiring the team to secure a convincing win.

Tau faced criticism after missing a penalty in the previous game against Mali, but that is now a thing of the past. Namibia’s Riaan Hanamub was at fault for handling the ball during a challenge against Thapelo Morena, resulting in a penalty. After consulting the video assistant referee, the referee awarded the penalty. Zwane then demonstrated his prowess by scoring two goals in the 25th and 40th minutes, while Thapelo Maseko sealed Bafana Bafana’s victory with a goal in the 75th minute.
