Airtel launches 5G mobile network service in Lagos, Ogun, Rivers and the FCT
Airtel Nigeria has joined the 5G mobile network as it launched the service today in Lagos, Ogun and Rivers States and in the Federal Capital Territory.
With this Airtel becomes the third operator to launch 5G mobile service in Nigeria after MTN and Mafab Communications. While MTN has launched and rolled out the 5G service, Mafab Communications is yet to roll out.
Carl Cruz, the CEO of Airtel Nigeria, stated the network would democratize access to 5G services in Nigeria while addressing during the network’s media debut in Lagos.
Cruz promised super-fast data services for Airtel customers and redefined services in other economic sectors, such as telemedicine, agriculture, and others.
The Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC)’s most recent data shows that Airtel now has 27.01 percent of the country’s mobile subscribers.
Femi Oshinlaja, Airtel Nigeria’s Chief Commercial Officer, announced that the company’s 5G services would be extended to other States soonest.
Super-fast data services are promised by 5G technology, which also promises to redefine services in other economic areas including agriculture and medicine.
