Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos has reiterated his pledge to make the city business friendly and an investment friendly climate.
Mr Ndegwa during the courtesy visit said the company recognised the importance of Lagos and vowed to continue to employ people from the local communities.
“Guinness Nigeria, with over 1, 500 employees considers Lagos as its home and an important place for doing business seeing that it is the host community of our headquarters and our largest brewery in Nigeria. We are proud of the partnership which we have forged with the government over the years, and we shall continue to run our business in a responsible manner that creates wealth for this great country.
“It is our desire to continue to empower many of the local communities from which we source our raw materials by increasing the proportion of our local input raw materials to 70%.”
The governor said: “Guinness Nigeria has demonstrated its commitment to corporate social responsibility via several partnerships and initiatives with the state and they must be commended for their unflinching support to help improve the well being of the good people of Lagos State. We are also excited that the Guinness Nigeria factory, which is located in the capital of Lagos, Ikeja, is a significant landmark for us. This is in line with our commitment to showcase Ikeja, as the real capital of the State as well as a hub of manufacturing and commercial activities.”
The governor added that the state was improving the road networks as well as providing street lights as a security mechanism in and around the Ikeja metropolis.
The governor on Friday, November 6 warned commercial drivers and okada riders that the state will no longer tolerate their unruly attitude on the roads which has been the cause of serious traffic and security challenges in the metropolis. The arrest of the erring driver was a testimony to the governor’s commitment to carry out his warning.
