Argentina Wins 2022 World Cup in Qatar: Beat France to the trophy on penalties
Yes, its very true. Finally Lionel Messi lifts the World Cup for his Country Argentina, he led the La albiceleste (the name of the National team of Argentina also known as ‘The White and Sky Blue’) to a scintillating game play against the Le Blues of France and triumphing in the end. This will go down as one of the best World Cup Finals in history. Both teams gave good account of themselves, showing that they are the best National Teams in the World as of 2022. #FIFAWorldCup
With just about 10 minutes remaining, Argentina led 2-0 after controlling the majority of the game, but France suddenly came alive behind star forward Kylian Mbappé’s two goals in as many minutes. In the 30 minutes of extra time prior to the stress of the penalty kicks, both teams exchanged squandered opportunities and then late goals once more. #Qatar2022
Messi opened scoring for his country and scored the third goal in the extra time after the 90 minutes of play. Mpappe equalized for France through a penalty in the 26th minute of the extra time to make the scores 3:3. The games then had to proceed to penalties.
France lost their three kicks though Mpappe scored the first penalty kick for France. Messi stepped up and scored his kick and all the other Argentine players followed his lead and netted their kicks. It was Argentina 4 and France 2 on penalty kicks and Argentina lifts the 2022 World Cup. The Argentine Goal Keeper, Emi Martinez, was the hero of the penalty kicks for saving two of the France’s penalty kicks
This undeniably makes Lionel Messi one of the greatest of football starts and perhaps the GOAT, as suggested by some. Messi proved to be motivator and game ace for Argentina. He played in all the matches and played full time and in all the games he scored for his country. What is most interesting is his level headedness and calm though out the competition and the way he led and inspired his team to victory.
The football World will for a long time speak on this 2022 World Cup in Qatar and Messi’s role in Argentina lifting the trophy. France will have the consolation prize of Mpape going home with the Golden Boot award for scoring 8 goals while Messi scored 7 goals. Three of Mpape’s goals came in this match against Argentina where he scored three goals, a hat trick, two of them coming through penalty takes.
Kylian Mbappe became the second man in history to score a hat-trick in the World Cup final. The World Cup victory is Lionel Messi’s career-crowning moment as he waited for almost two decades to lift the World Cup. This may as well be his last World Cup!
