Business Recovery Programme for young Nigerian Entrepreneurs by FATE Foundation

FATE Foundation has launched the Business Recovery Programme (for youth) to support young Nigerian entrepreneurs hit by the economic impact of covid-19. The programme will run virtually all through 2021.

Funded by the Standard Chartered Foundation, the project is part of futuremakers by Standard Chartered, a global initiative to tackle inequality. FATE Foundation aims to support 2,000 young entrepreneurs. Micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) businesses have a crucial role to play in economic recoveries post-COVID and ensuring support of a diverse range of young entrepreneurs will contribute towards a richer, more varied and more resilient economy for everyone.

FATE Foundation will provide a holistic package of support including Digital Transformation Workshop, Resilience Building Series, and Remote Consulting & Advisory services to be delivered virtually to 2000 entrepreneurs across Nigeria. We will specifically target underserved entrepreneurs between the ages of 18-35 who have been hardest hit by the crisis. The key target segments are:

  • Young entrepreneurs (between the ages of 18-35)
  • Female entrepreneurs (a minimum of 50% will be targeted)
  • Micro-entrepreneurs (as defined by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) – businesses that have less than 10 employees and are valued at less than 5 million Naira).

A core initiative to enable success is effectively engaging staff members of Standard Chartered Bank Nigeria and this volunteer engagement strategy document outlines the programme timelines, process and how staff members can be involved.
