Call for application: RevUp Women initiative
AfriLabs created this program in response to the lack of finance, capacity building, and proper support that many women entrepreneurs and founders experience within the African innovation ecosystem.
The RevUp Women Initiative is an enterprise development program for early-stage, female-driven entrepreneurs and enterprises in local communities, led by innovation hubs throughout Africa. Its goal is to help women-owned enterprises grow into successful, long-lasting firms that will help the continent create jobs. Through enterprise development training, mentorship, peer to peer learning, and providing access to capital, the initiative aims to promote gender equality, reduce poverty, and promote inclusive economic growth.
The Visa Foundation is funding this initial cohort, which seeks to mentor 500 women-led enterprises across 5 trial nations in Africa and fund 10 through the Catalytic Africa matching fund. Get more about the project, its anticipated effects, and its results here.
Hubs across the network are being encouraged to apply by AfriLabs to carry out this batch of the initiative. In this cohort, ten (10) implementing hubs, two (2) in each of the pilot countries, will be chosen through a competitive application and screening process that prioritizes hubs that have operated for at least six months and have incubated at least one complete cohort of women-led firms. The application closes on the 17th of March 2023. Click here for eligibility criteria and how to apply
